Report by Wong Shiu Hung on the Political Situation in
Kwongsai.
At 9 a.m. on the 29th instant a memorial service was
held by the Branch Political Council, Canton. Wong Shiu Hung was elected Chairman and he made a report on the Kuomintang affairs, the military work and the political situation in Kwongsai. We now publish it below:-
Kuomintang Affairs.
Before the purification of the Kuomintang, there were more than 50,000 members of the Party throughout Kwongsai. But after its purification, only 20,000 members were left; and after the improvement and training which has recently been made, the number has further been reduced to about 10,000, which would mean a reduction of 80 or 90%. Up to the time of my departure for Canton, there were only about 5,700 members, and when registration has been accomplished, I think that there will be not more than 6,000. The existing members, I can say, are perfect Kuomintang members, and therefore unified opinion prevails among them in all distric without any possible dissension. It has been proposed that a training class or a training office should be established. But owing to the decrease in the number of members, there has been a pressure of work in the Party. We have desired to appoint a Kuomintang Affairs Training Committee for this purpose and to send three or four members of such Committee to each district. Then the training will be finished in 8 or 10 days instead
of 2 or 3 months. This is the quick scheme adopted in
